A lot of GMs need to wise up and maybe learn from Yzerman and Guerin. These guys have both done masterful jobs thus far as General Managers.

Right? I read that Suter hung up on Guerin. I’m sure it’s awkward, but man is it nice to clear the decks instead of just watching things fall apart.

I get the feeling that Parise and Suter really stuck it to Guerin, and that he did the only thing he could have done. Really puts the big plan in limbo, though!

For years those contracts were “untouchable”. What Guerin did was not only move on from the players, but reset an attitude. He’s building a team where everyone will have to buy in. Suter’s had a “reputation” (fair or not) for demanding ice time and making it tough on coaches. He’s a high level defenseman, and could help a team immensely. The GM and the coach have to be able to run the team to put it in the right direction. This is a step in that direction, in my opinion

Lightning winger Pat Maroon admitted he was the one who accidentally damaged the bowl of the Stanley Cup during the club’s victory celebration in Tampa on Monday. He was attempting to lift the Cup and slipped on the wet stage and fell backward. It was raining at the time of the incident.

Alcohol not involved

I can't wait to see the trades between Yzerman and Brisebois. Stevie could harbor McDonough and Cernak from the marauding Kraken on his protected list and trade him back to Tampa for a draft pick or two. Tyler Johnson? He would look good in Red if TB can't get Seattle to take the contract.

The Red Wings I think have finally hit Ground Zero. The rebuild really starts now but they need to start hitting their draft picks as the last few have been very lackluster. I think there may not be more than 2-3 player on this roster that will be around before they win their first playoff series. We need to continue to suck and get some top 3 draft picks if not #1s. That is the way in the Cap era. Suck really bad, get #1 draft picks, build dynasty. Pittsburgh, Chicago, Tampa, all have the same script.

I could see JBB threaten to leave McDonough unprotected in the ex draft to get McDonough to waive his NTC to go to a team he wants to play for...Maybe Boston, maybe LA....
Tyler and his buddy Palat may be traded together for peanuts, they would comprise most of Detroit's 2nd line...
Gonna be a hot summer for JBB and Tampa!

I would do it on a very short deal, might even be able to flip him at the deadline.

Agree one year deal $1.5m flip at deadline. He is a power play professional that would help fix our powerless play.
